CancerCare: www.cancercare.org 

CancerCare provides financial and co-pay assistance to cancer patients who are in active treatment and who meet eligibility guidelines based on the Federal Poverty Level. To apply, call (800) 813-4673.

Joe Andruzzi Foundation: www.joeandruzzifoundation.org

Located in North Attleboro, MA, this foundation was formed in 2008. Grants up to $800 are provided to cancer patients in active treatment for basic living expenses, as well as a food insecurity program. Upon approval, JAF sends a check directly to the utility/landlord. For financial assistance guidelines and application, email grants@joeandruzzifoundation.org.

CT Cancer Foundation: www.ctcancerfoundation.org

This organization is based in Old Saybrook, CT and provides financial assistance to cancer patients in CT. The patient must be in active treatment, meet income eligibility guidelines, and be referred by an oncology social worker at a partnering cancer center. This foundation provides assistance with everyday living expenses, such as mortgage/rent, utilities, and car payments.

Amy’s Angels Corporation: www.amysangels.org 

This organization was founded in 2014 and is based in Simsbury, CT and assists cancer patients in financial need with everyday living expenses. The application is available on-line and you can contact (860) 408-6188 if assistance is needed.

Ann’s Place: www.annsplace.org 

Ann’s Place, located in Danbury, CT, offers financial assistance to clients with cancer and their families/loved ones. Ann’s Place has established a standard procedure for assessment and processing of eligibility for financial aid. As funds for financial aid are limited, patients who are newly diagnosed or in active treatment receive priority in funding requests. A maximum of $1,000.00 per applicant ($2,000.00 per family) per year for qualifying persons is permitted for a total of three years, not necessarily consecutive. (For residents of select regions in CT and Eastern NY only)  

Jolly John’s “Keep You Truckin” Fund, Inc.:  www.keepyoutruckin.org

Based in Eastern Connecticut, this organization was established in 2012 and assists cancer patients with household expenses and medical bills. The application can be found on-line and you can also call (860) 228-2886 ext. 186 for more information. (For residents of Windham, New London, and Tolland counties only)

Jane Lloyd Fund: www.thejanelloydfund.org

This fund was established by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation in Sheffield, MA to assist cancer patients with everyday living expenses. Grants to eligible individuals may be up to $2,500. To apply, call (413) 229-0370 or email grants@berkshiretaconic.org. (For residents of Canaan, Cornwall, Falls Village, Kent, Salisbury and Sharon only)

Clinton Rotary Club Cancer Relief Fund: www.clintonrotaryct.com/cancer-relief-fund.html 

This fund was established in 1997 and helps cancer patients with general living expenses, not medical expenses. The application is available on-line or it can be obtained by writing to the Clinton Rotary Cancer Relief Fund, P.O. Box 558, Clinton, CT 06413. (For residents in the Clinton area only)

Family Reach: www.familyreach.org

Family reach provides financial education, financial coaching, and resource navigation. It also provides emergency relief funds to cancer patients in active treatment or who have completed treatment within the past year. In addition, these cancer patients must have received treatment at a U.S. hospital, be represented by a healthcare professional, and a child or young adult must be impacted. 

Modest Needs Foundation: www.modestneeds.org  

Eligibility guidelines are posted on their website and applications for grants must be submitted on-line. In addition, applicants must register with Modest Needs before an application can be filed and must have an active email account to register.

Allyson Whitney Foundation: www.allysonwhitney.org

For young adult cancer patients with rare cancers. Eligible applicants are young adults between the ages of 16 and 36 who are in active treatment or who have recently completed treatment. Grants range from $500 - $1,500 and applications must be requested by a healthcare professional. 

Breast Cancer Only:

Breast Cancer Emergency Aid Foundation: bceaf.org/client_services.html

This Westport, CT non-profit organization assists breast cancer patients in CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA. They provide one-time grants up to $300 per year for household expenses. Applications must be submitted by social workers or nurse navigators. 

Pink Aid, Pink Purse: www.pinkaid.org/pa/pink-aid-pink-purse 

This is a Westport, CT non-profit organization which assists breast cancer patients with household expenses. Applicants must be in active treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatments) and may receive a grant up to $1,000 once during a 12-month period.

Living Beyond Breast Cancer – www.lbbc.org/fund 

This organization is based in Pennsylvania. Applicants must be in active treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or targeted therapies) or living with metastatic disease. Grants range from $500 to $1,000 and the application must be completed on-line. The fund is only open when there are sufficient funds for grants, therefore check the website for grant availability before proceeding with an application. 

Komen Treatment Assistance: www.komen.org/treatment-assistance-program/ 

The Susan G. Komen Foundation is based in Dallas, TX. Applicants must be at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level. Applicants with Stage 0 to Stage III disease may receive grants up to $500 and applicants with Stage IV disease may receive grants up to $700. Grants may be used for a variety of expenses, including utilities, mortgage/rent, cost of treatment-related medications, etc.

This is a Michigan-based nonprofit organization which assists with household expenses or health insurance premiums up to $3,000 over the course of 3 months. Applicant must be in active treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation). Household income must be at or below 500% of the Federal Poverty Level. 

Remember Betty: www.rememberbetty.com/apply-for-assistance 

This is a State of Washington-based nonprofit organization. Applications must be filed from the 1st to the 7th of each month. There is no active treatment requirement. They are only able to assist 5-10 patients per month and receive 200 or more applications a month. Patients who do not receive assistance may reapply after 3 months.

Infinite Strength: www.infinitestrength.org. 

A Madison, Connecticut non-profit organization providing financial assistance to underserved/underinsured single mothers in active treatment (surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatment) for breast cancer. Grants for household expenses up to $1,000 are available for applicants with Stage I, II, or III disease. Additional funding may be available for applicants with Stage IV disease. Gift cards for groceries or transportation may also be available. Applicants must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Hematological/Blood Cancers Only

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society:  www.lls.org

LLS provides financial assistance through various programs: co-pay assistance; patient aid; travel assistance; and urgent needs. Either visit the LLS website or contact an Information Specialist for further information and assistance. Information Specialists are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM (ET).

Lea’s Foundation: www.leasfoundation.org 

This Foundation was founded in 1998 and is located in Hartford, CT. Grants are available to CT residents or non-residents obtaining treatment in CT. Grants are for either out-of-pocket medical expenses (and travel/housing expenses related to medical treatments) or everyday living expenses. Please go to the Foundation’s website for its on-line application and complete explanation of its eligibility requirements.

Pancreatic Cancer Only

 Ron Foley Foundation:  www.ronsrun.org 

This nonprofit foundation, located in West Hartford, CT, provides grants up to $1,200 (approximately) to patients with pancreatic cancer in New England, New York, and New Jersey. These grants provide assistance for a wide variety of needs, including basic living expenses.

Project Purple: www.projectpurple.org  

This organization is located in Seymour, CT.  Applicants must be US residents, in active treatment for pancreatic cancer, or experiencing post-treatment complications. One-time grants are provided for basic living expenses, but also for medical bills directly related to the treatment of pancreatic cancer. The application can be downloaded from their website.

Other Diagnosis-Specific

Meredith’s Miracles: http://merediths-miracles.org

This organization is located in Lexington, KY and provides grants to young adults (age 40 or under) diagnosed with colon cancer. These grants provide assistance with living expenses and the application can be found on their website.

Head & Neck Cancer Alliance Gas Card Program: www.headandneck.org/financial-assistance/

Patients must be US residents, in active treatment, and applications must be submitted by a member of the patient’s healthcare team.  Cancers of the brain, eye, esophagus, thyroid gland, and early skin cancers of the face and scalp do not qualify as head and neck cancers for the purpose of this program. Applications are done through their website.
